PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 15, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Northwest Natural Gas Company (NW Natural) received the national award for Best Ethics and Compliance Program (Mid-Cap) at the Corporate Governance Awards 2018.
Corporate Secretary magazine has hosted the annual awards for 11 years. This year, 14 companies from a wide range of industries received awards across 15 categories.
“Integrity is fundamental to everything we do at NW Natural. As our first core value, it informs how we serve our customers, operate our business, treat our employees and engage with the community,” said David H. Anderson, NW Natural president and CEO. “The way we behave – guided by our Code of Ethics – is one of our greatest assets.”
All of NW Natural’s nearly 1,200 employees are required to complete the company’s Business Integrity Program every year, with results reported to the company’s board of directors. The training program includes a Code of Ethics and an hour-long online course.
“This past year, we refreshed our Code of Ethics and online module program with a focus on helping employees to understand their responsibilities and make the right choices in the workplace,” said Shawn Filippi, vice president, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary at NW Natural. “I’m incredibly honored to work with a group of people who are clearly dedicated to living our core values every day.”
Additionally, all NW Natural employees have access to the company’s Business Integrity Hotline, where questions can be asked or concerns can be reported anonymously.
An independent panel of judges selected the winners of the Corporate Governance Awards, which were announced at a gala event on November 8 in New York.
