OTTAWA, Nov. 16, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ – OPIN Software has won Acquia’s 2015 Partner Site of the Year Award in the federal public sector category for their work on the Prime Minister’s website.

Acquia, the Drupal digital experience company, announced the 16 winners of their award last week, and OPIN is proud to be chosen amongst the 48 finalists. The award showcases the best examples of digital innovation from Acquia partners.

Mathieu Weber, director at Acquia Canada, said it’s encouraging to see government agencies looking towards Drupal and cloud based services.

“Two years ago, e-services and open government were mostly buzzwords; today we are receiving a growing amount of inquiries from government players seeking to ‘catch up’ with their peers around the world,” Weber said.

An increasing amount of government agencies are moving towards open source technologies, like Drupal, for their security and accessibility standards.

“This is a good thing for Canada, for our taxpayers and it will no doubt contribute to fostering a stronger culture of innovation. More can certainly be done, but we are heading in the right direction as OPIN’s project showcases.”

OPIN’s Design Lead, Adrian Rylski, put simple and clear design at the forefront when designing the website on Drupal.

“It was an honour for me to work on the Prime Minister’s website. I wanted a clean and simple design that would appeal to a very diverse group of people. I didn’t want it to distract from the content of the site. It is extremely rewarding for me to work on a site of this magnitude, knowing that it is targeting an entire country,” said Rylski.

This is OPIN’s second award for their work on the Prime Minister’s website. OPIN received international recognition for outstanding creative design on the website after receiving the 2014 Summit Award silver medal in the government website category.
