Wind Mobile supporting Lifeline Syria, providing mobile phones and free service to refugee families coming to Canada

TORONTO, Dec. 1, 2015 /CNW/ – WIND Mobile is partnering with LifeLine Syria to help Syrian refugee families who are coming to Canada by providing them with mobile phones and wireless service, free of charge.

“Canadians are responding with compassion and generosity to the plight of Syrians who have been forced to flee their homeland.  We want to do what we can to help,” said WIND Mobile Marketing VP, Jennifer Douglas. “Access to mobile communications can help them make a smooth transition to life in Canada.”

Canadians wanting to contribute to the effort are invited to bring any surplus mobile phones they may have to any WIND Mobile store for donation.

WIND Mobile is partnering with HYLA Mobile and Lifeline Syria (www.lifelinesyria.ca) on this initiative. Lifeline Syria is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping sponsor and assist refugees coming to Canada to escape the violence in war-torn Syria. It seeks to bring 1,000 Syrian refugees to the Greater Toronto Area as permanent residents with the help of private sponsors.

“We commend WIND Mobile for helping with our efforts to provide for the needs of the Syrian refugees who are coming to Canada. By giving them a way to stay connected, WIND Mobile will help these new arrivals settle in to life in their new adopted country,” said Ratna Omidvar, Chair of Lifeline Syria.
