(NYSE: JNPR), an industry leader in automated, scalable and secure networks, today announced it has joined the Telecom Infra Project (TIP), an engineering-focused initiative led by Facebook, SK Telecom and Deutsche Telekom, among others, that encourages the adoption of an open approach to global networks. The group is comprised of operators, infrastructure providers, system integrators and other technology companies that aim to reimagine the traditional approach to building and deploying telecom network infrastructure.
The Telecom Infra Project aims to solve many of the issues associated with traditional telecommunications infrastructures by providing an ecosystem of interoperable components enabling completely new and agile network architectures. Leveraging its position as a leading proponent of open source and open architectures, Juniper Networks will be contributing its engineering and development expertise to TIP’s Open Optical Packet Transport project group.
Juniper’s membership in TIP underscores its commitment and desire to move the telecom industry forward with an open approach to networking through interoperability and the development of new and advanced technical solutions.
