MONTREAL, QUEBEC–(Marketwired – Dec. 5, 2016) – To celebrate the holidays, TELUS (TSX:T)(NYSE:TU) is inviting Montrealers to spread some Montreal magic on social media and share posts about their favourite things, secret go-to spots or most memorable moments. Every time the #MagieMTL hashtag is used between December 5 and 31, TELUS will donate $1 to the Étincelles program at Fondation du Centre jeunesse de Montréal, which helps make the holidays magical for kids.
“Our beloved city deserves to be celebrated! With Montreal’s 375th anniversary coming up, we were looking for an innovative way to highlight unforgettable moments and magical places in our beautiful city, especially during the holidays,” says Anne Belliveau, Senior Director, TELUS Marketing Communications. “Whether they snap a photo while enjoying poutine at 3 a.m., skating under the stars or browsing through Christmas markets, Montrealers will have a platform to share the things they love and shine a spotlight on our beautiful city. Together, we can also give underprivileged kids a chance to enjoy a magical experience. TELUS will make a minimum $10,000 donation to Fondation du Centre jeunesse de Montréal on behalf of all Montrealers.”
“Every child deserves to dream. Unfortunately, children who come through the Centre jeunesse de Montréal rarely get the chance to experience those moments of wonder,” adds Isabelle Levesque, Executive Director of Fondation du Centre jeunesse de Montréal. “Through life’s ups and downs, these kids show inspiring resilience and extraordinary potential. This holiday season, we want to give them those magical moments. Every share of the #MagieMTL hashtag counts and will enable children to enjoy dinner at a restaurant with a dear one, see a concert or sport game or go sledding during the holidays.”
Everyone who participates in the #MagieMTL social media campaign will also be entered to win a Montreal essentials kit. Additionally, TELUS will post an Instagram photo of one of Montreal’s best-kept secrets or must-do activities every day until December 31 to instagram.com/TELUSfr/.
A long-standing commitment to Montreal
TELUS has a long history of involvement in Montreal. This year, the company will have invested $111 million in the city to connect Greater Montreal and its businesses with 4,000 kilometres of optical fibre, pave the way for the smart city of tomorrow and outfit numerous health and education institutions with state-of-the-art wireless networks. TELUS is also a proud partner of the Montreal Alouettes, InnoCité MTL and more.
This holiday season, TELUS is also partnering with Operation Red Nose Montreal. As part of the collaboration, TELUS created a three-digit number, *639 (*NEZ), which customers can simply call to connect directly with the Montreal Command Centre. TELUS is also a supporting partner of the Grand Marché de Noël de Montréal and is inviting Montrealers to visit one of its three locations at the Christmas market.
