Bombardier Delivering Key Project Milestones in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA–(Marketwired – May 11, 2016) – Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation is shaping the future of transportation in Malaysia with successful deliveries of its industry-leading urban transit solutions. With a consistent track record of more than 20 years in Malaysia, Bombardier is actively contributing to the advancement of the country’s rail industry.

One testament to this is the long-term collaboration with customer Prasarana to enhance Kuala Lumpur’s transportation network and boost services for passengers. To achieve this goal, Bombardier is delivering its latest generation of driverless BOMBARDIER INNOVIA Metro 300 trains which will increase the capacity of the Kelana Jaya (KLAV) line and meet growing demand. These new INNOVIA Metro 300 trains are designed for passenger comfort, safe operation and service dependability.

The Bombardier Hartasuma Consortium has also recently achieved a major milestone when it delivered the first KLAV train to the Subang depot to undergo testing and commissioning before passenger service. The local assembly work to install the complete train interior is underway on the second train at the Westport facility in Malaysia. In addition to the new trains, Bombardier is also supporting Kuala Lumpur’s growth by increasing capacity for the Kelana Jaya Line through system overhaul works and maintenance services that keep the trains running in peak condition.

Also progressing well is the delivery of the BOMBARDIER CITYFLO 650 Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) solution for the new Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) Line 1. This project will increase connectivity, including in and out of Kuala Lumpur, for an estimated 1.2 million residents. System Acceptance Tests are underway for Phase 1 of the project, the 51 km long track from Sungai Buloh to Semantan, which is scheduled to enter operation by the year end. The final installation of the advanced and globally-proven CITYFLO 650 CBTC technology will bring capacity and safety benefits.

This year, Bombardier will showcase its urban transit technologies at the Rail Solutions Asia 2016 exhibition. In the conference, the Bombardier team will share its Project Management experience in Smart Project Management for Seamless System Integration and host a rail control workshop on the benefits of CBTC including reduced life-cycle costs. On the last day of the three-day event, Bombardier is hosting an exclusive site tour to Subang depot giving the registered delegates an opportunity to view the first new INNOVIA Metro 300 train in its final testing stage. Meet the Bombardier Team at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Exhibition Hall Level 3, on May 11-13, 2016.
