Capital Power named one of Canada’s ’50 Best Corporate Citizens’ for seventh consecutive year

EDMONTON, AB–(Marketwired – June 06, 2017) – Capital Power is pleased to announce it is ranked one of Canada’s Best 50 Corporate Citizens for the seventh consecutive year by Corporate Knights. The annual ranking, now in its 16th year, sets the standard for corporate citizenship in Canada and recognizes companies that implement responsible business practices based on environmental, social, and governance benchmarks.

“Capital Power is honored to once again be recognized as one of Canada’s Best 50 Corporate Citizens,” said Brian Vaasjo, President and CEO of Capital Power. “Being a responsible corporate citizen means building, sustaining and strengthening our communities and our environment by contributing to the innovation and adoption of better technologies to reduce emissions, engaging with communities and stakeholders to develop projects with shared interests and priorities, and building a workplace where our people remain healthy and safe while developing their careers.”

Each year, Capital Power publishes a Corporate Responsibility Report highlighting the company’s sustainability efforts and accomplishments, including how it’s transitioning to a lower-carbon future, contributing to the communities where it operates, creating a healthy, safe, and environmentally responsible workplace, and instilling a culture of learning and development for its employees.

The methodology for the 2017 Best 50 Corporate Citizens of Canada is based on 14 key performance indicators (KPIs) covering resource, employee, and financial management.
