NEW YORK, Dec. 3, 2015 /CNW/ — Virtuoso®, the international network of luxury travel agencies, announces exclusive benefits at the hotly anticipated Il Sereno, Lago di Como in Italy ahead of its summer 2016 opening. Situated next to the village of Torno and surrounded by dramatic views of the snow-kissed Italian Alps and idyllic small towns, Il Sereno, Lago di Como is located along 450 feet of Lake Como’s legendary eastern shore. It is owned and operated by Sereno Properties and will be the sister property to the acclaimed Le Sereno St. Barth’s.
Only guests who reserve their stay through a Virtuoso-affiliated travel advisor will receive:
Il Sereno, Lago di Como joins the world’s finest up-and-coming hotels in Virtuoso’s esteemed Preview program. Through it, the network provides a crucial boost to properties about to open, including networking opportunities, advisor training, and sales and marketing initiatives. As a Preview benefit, clients of Virtuoso travel advisors receive value-added advantages unavailable elsewhere. Preview is part of Virtuoso’s renowned Hotels & Resorts program, which encompasses almost 1,100 of the world’s best properties in 100 countries.
Highly sought-after Milan-based architect and designer Patricia Urquiola will create a stylish modern look at Il Sereno, Lago di Como, making it the region’s first contemporary hotel. Urquiola was recently named “Designer of the Year” by Wallpaper magazine and has been commissioned by brands including Louis Vuitton, Baccarat and Missoni. She will create a relaxed, peaceful sanctuary for guests, drawing inspiration from Lake Como’s culture, lifestyle and the history of the region. Every space on the property will offer a panoramic view of the lake and mountains.
The property will feature the iconic lake’s only private beach as well as a dock, allowing guests to arrive by the hotel’s custom-built water limousine. One of Il Sereno, Lago di Como’s show-stopping features will be the 60-foot-long freshwater infinity pool suspended over the water – the sole infinity pool on the lake. Joining Urquiola on the project is noted botanist Patrick Blanc, who will create two vertical gardens on the property.
Il Sereno, Lago di Como will feature 30 suites, all with waterfront views. The oversized suites, each more than 600 square feet, will feature decor with understated elegance. Celebrated London restaurateur Giuliano Lotto will operate the hotel’s indoor/outdoor restaurant, the Restaurant at Il Sereno, Lago di Como. There, Chef Alex Simone will deliver northern Italian cuisine highlighting fresh local produce. Il Sereno, Lago di Como guests can also relax at the hotel’s full-service spa.
“Lake Como is a favored destination for the world’s most selective travelers, and they will be drawn to Il Sereno, Lago di Como as the first new hotel on the lake in many years,” said Albert Herrera, Virtuoso’s senior vice president of Global Product Partnerships. “With its breathtaking waterfront setting, unassumingly stylish design, and intuitive service – all synonymous with the Sereno name – fashionable travelers will be buzzing over this unique treasure when its doors open to Virtuoso guests.”
