SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN–(Marketwired – June 9, 2016) – International Road Dynamics Inc. (TSX:IRD) (IRD) announced today the award of a USD $2.59 Million project from Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) to build, implement, and maintain a new and innovative Port-of-Entry (POE) Electronic Screening System (ESS) for Commercial Vehicles at Interstate-35 Northbound in Love County, Oklahoma. This project is the fourth such system to be supplied by IRD, as ODOT continues with the deployment of additional systems throughout the State.
The purpose of the Electronic Screening System is to better focus limited resources on potentially high risk or non-compliant commercial vehicles. This system will allow trucks with compliant weight, dimensions and credentials to bypass the POE at highway speeds, thereby reducing the number of trucks that are required to stop at the inspection station. With fewer delays at this facility, compliant carriers save time and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are reduced. Overall safety and efficiency is also improved.
This contract includes the supply and installation of IRD’s Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) and intelligent Roadside Operation Credentialing (iROC) system which utilizes License Plate Reader (LPR) and USDOT Reader technology, vehicle dimensioning, integrated static scale, video verification, vehicle movement compliance and operational and reporting software.
This site will be added to the IRD supplied Host Operations and Maintenance Operations Management System, which provides ODOT a complete picture of activity across this and other POE locations statewide. These systems provide a central data repository with a powerful web-based data access tool to provide real-time information, historical reporting, and business intelligence through one system portal. The Maintenance Operations Management System also provides ongoing site health monitoring and equipment status information.
Mr. Terry Bergan, IRD’s President and CEO stated: “We are pleased to have been awarded another significant project within the State of Oklahoma. This system will complement the three other POE installations previously procured by ODOT. In today’s environment, it is important to be able to access and monitor all locations as if they were one system, thus providing unparalleled intelligence to assist with operations and decision making. Interconnectivity of individual weighing and e-screening systems to create a statewide network brings us closer to the goal of creating integrated smart systems to better manage assets and resources. Our business across North America continues to grow as we leverage our significant installed base with new features and functionality.”
