Marrone Bio Innovations’ almond bloom solutions increase farmer ROI and support new Almond Orchard 2025 Goals

DAVIS, Calif., Feb. 06, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Marrone Bio Innovations Inc. (NASDAQ: MBII) (MBI), a leading developer of biological crop protection and plant health solutions, is offering a pair of products – Haven® for Plant Health and Regalia® Biofungicide – to serve California almond growers as market demand for almonds continues to boom around the globe.

Years of field trials have shown that the use of MBI’s biological products can offer growers an increased return on investment. Further, both Haven and Regalia support objectives of the new Almond Orchard 2025 Goals of the Almond Board of California “dedicated to producing an economically, environmentally and socially responsible crop for California” and specifically by supporting “grower adoption of environmentally friendly pest management tools by 25 percent.”

“California growers hold a critical role in global almond production,” noted Pam Marrone, founder and CEO of Marrone Bio Innovations. “As annual production approaches three billion pounds and the consumer demands greater transparency on inputs, MBI remains committed to the development and distribution of environmentally responsible biologicals that enhance standard pest and disease management and plant health solutions, while allowing both organic and conventional almond farmers to increase their ROI.”

Regalia Biofungicide

Regalia maximizes control of almond brown rot and anthracnose, the most serious bloomtime diseases. Using Regalia early and throughout the season stimulates the tree’s innate ability to ward off disease. Multi-year trials across all key growing areas have shown that Regalia at one-to-two quarts per acre in a rotation, or as a tank mix partner, improves disease control by an average of 35 percent over rotations and tank mixes of the chemical standards without Regalia. Incorporating Regalia into any type of tank mix achieves better disease control (less damage). In addition, with its unique mode of action, Regalia can make disease management programs more durable by reducing the probability that almond plant pathogens develop resistance to commonly used chemical fungicides.

Haven for Overall Almond Plant Health

With its powerful plant-derived active ingredient, Haven helps protect crops from heat stress. Reduced heat stress has been proven to increase marketable yield in multiple years of field testing, leading to a seven-to-one return on investment.  Additional benefits of Haven include easy application, no visible deposit, flexible harvest and uncomplicated nut processing. By improving the almond nut yields and increasing the trunk girth of almonds, Haven complements the Almond Orchard 2025 Goals.
