Mid-Valley Hospital and clinic select Cerner CommunityWorks to enhance patient care

10-year agreement aims to use Cerner to advance health strategy

OMAK, Wash., Dec. 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Mid-Valley Hospital (MVH) has selected Cerner, a global leader in health care technology, to transform its Electronic Health Record (EHR) through the Cerner Millennium® platform. MVH has also signed on to purchase Cerner population health solutions, with the goal of helping manage outcomes to improve the health of individuals throughout the community. Through this agreement, MVH will move from an aging health care technology platform to one patient-centric electronic record, supporting physicians, nurses and clinicians as they share data and streamline processes across the entire organization.

“Today’s health care is changing rapidly, and we work hard to be ahead of the curve when it comes to procedures, technology and talent,” said Alan Fisher, CEO, MVH. “Every day we are assessing the health care needs of this community and investing in what is needed most to improve the patient experience.”

MVH plans to implement Cerner Millennium across its hospital and Mid-Valley Medical Group clinic. This solution will provide the health system with a secure digital platform which can be used to store and record their patients’ health history, including clinical and financial data. Doctors and nurses will have a more complete, near real-time view of an individual’s heath. Through the new online portal, patients will now be able to securely message doctors, schedule appointments, view and settle balances and access their health history.

MVH has also invested in population health to help clinicians improve the health of people throughout the community. MVH will implement Cerner HealtheIntentSM, its big data and insights platform for population health management, which supports health systems to aggregate, transform and reconcile data across the continuum of care. Clinicians will also be supported by HealtheCareSM, Cerner’s knowledge-driven community care management solution, which helps prioritize and assign individuals to care managers to help provide high-quality and efficient care.

“Moving away from a platform that relies on several third parties brings the hospital’s departments onto a single EHR and is an immensely important step for MVH as it continues to improve the patient experience and health outcomes in the community,” said Mitchell Clark, president, CommunityWorks, Cerner. “MVH and Cerner have a shared strategic vision of improving the overall health of populations we serve, and we are excited to offer our solutions to help further improve the health of the people of Omak.”
