From the beginning of 2016, Molotov will become available on all LG Smart TVs via the LG webOS 2.0 platform. Users will be able to experience Molotov directly as part of webOS 2.0, which together will seamlessly create a new, connected and fully customizable way to watch television via the unparalleled picture quality offered by LG OLED TV technology.

Molotov offers its users live TV access and a “catch-up” service from any device, which highlights its visually intuitive way to watch and discover television programmes. “Bookmarking” (a mix of notifications, information and advance recording function) is offered with navigation possible by channel, programme type, or by those featured (searchable by directors, presenters, actors, guests, historical figures, etc.) These features allow the user to discover programmes they never knew existed or which they could have easily missed. Users can also share their own television experiences via a wide range of social media functions.

Molotov co-founder JeanDavid Blanc commented: “Our partnership with LG is a significant step forward in achieving the vision of Molotov. Our goal is to reinvigorate the television viewer’s experience through distribution to connected devices. As we work to achieve this, we can’t think of a better partner than LG. Together we will provide users with a totally new way to enjoy television and the content it offers.”

Fellow co-founder Pierre Lescure also said: “Our new partnership with LG represents only the beginning for Molotov. We’re driving television into a new era by allowing viewers to access live programming, favorite programs, bookmarks, preferences and subscription channels as they wish. Television is no longer ‘attached to the wall’, but is now freed from wires and available to viewers wherever they are, and whatever screen they may be using.”

Molotov will be initially available in the French market, distributing well over 80 local and international channels. Since its initial announcement on 18th June 2015, tens of thousands of people have registered to use Molotov. The service is currently rolling out to registered molotov.tv users, before being offered to the wider public at a later date.
