PLAINVIEW, NY–(Marketwired – November 22, 2016) – NeuLion, Inc. (TSX: NLN), a leading technology product and service provider specializing in the broadcasting, distribution and monetization of live and on-demand digital video content to Internet-enabled devices, today announced that its subsidiary MainConcept GmbH has licensed various MainConcept® codecs, including the HEVC/H.265 SDK and the new SCTE-35 SDK, to PlayBox Technology Limited’s Neo product line.
PlayBox Technology operates within every aspect of the automated production workflow in the broadcast industry. Its latest releases of CaptureBox Neo and AirBox Neo support various media formats produced by different ingest and NLE systems, automating content playout for satellite channels, cable head-ends or over-the-air broadcasting.
CaptureBox Neo and AirBox Neo have already incorporated MainConcept’s H.264, DV, DVCPRO and MPEG-2 codecs and related multiplexer / demultiplexer components. With the additional license of MainConcept’s state-of-the-art HEVC/H.265 SDK, and the latest innovation-enabling dynamic ad-insertion technology provided by SCTE-35 SDK, PlayBox Technology further extends its footprint in the broadcast automation market.
Dynamic ad-insertion identifies markers in broadcast streams during ingest and playout in content management systems. MainConcept’s SCTE-35 SDK provides an easy-to-use API for software vendors to handle SCTE-35 specification compliant metadata in MPEG Transport Streams, and allows retrieval, storage and insertion of commercial-related data.
“Our customers look for stable, reliable and robust technology that can be easily integrated into their software products,” said Deacon Johnson, SVP Global Sales – Technology Licensing for MainConcept at NeuLion. “MainConcept’s SDKs fulfill these requirements, while we lead adoption of new technologies. Our license with PlayBox for HEVC/H.265 SDK and the new SCTE-35 SDK for dynamic ad-insertion in CaptureBox Neo and AirBox Neo products exemplifies this commitment, as well as the trust that Playbox has in the NeuLion team and in the highly flexible MainConcept SDK solutions.”
“NeuLion has proved to be a highly competent partner in our strategy of remaining the world’s leading provider of efficient and operator-friendly television broadcast and channel-branding products, software and supporting services,” adds Don Ash, President of PlayBox Technology Limited. “NeuLion understands the PlayBox Technology ethos of delivering solutions which are easy to install, fast to configure, reliable and easily scalable. That is the approach our customers appreciate.”
