PITTSBURGH, Nov. 17, 2015 /CNW/ — In order to strengthen the global competence of its business students, the University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and College of Business Administration (Pitt Business) have expanded its usage of the Global Competence Aptitude Assessment (GCAA)®, developed by Global Leadership Excellence (GLE) LLC, a leading provider of intercultural diagnostic assessments.
Pitt Business undergraduate and graduate students are using the GCAA®, an instrument that objectively measures eight distinct dimensions of global competence, including Attentiveness to Diversity and Open-Mindedness within the Internal Readiness category, as well as Global Awareness, Intercultural Capability, and Collaboration Across Cultures within the External Readiness category.
“To succeed as graduates, it is imperative that our students have a thorough understanding of global business and world cultures. The GCAA® tool complements our curriculum and study abroad programs by giving us data that we can use to make strategic decisions,” said Audrey J. Murrell, associate dean of the Pitt Business undergraduate College of Business Administration.
“The GCAA® provides a baseline of students’ individual global competence at the beginning of their studies at Pitt Business, and a guide to developmental experiences,” said Jacqueline Saslawski, managing director of Pitt Business’ International Business Center.
The GCAA® is used across secondary and higher education, business, government, and nonprofit sectors. In professional settings, the GCAA® is used for development and selection purposes and it takes about 30 minutes to complete.
“We are pleased that the GCAA® has been adopted throughout the University of Pittsburgh’s business programs. Pitt’s progressive stance to build global competence within all business students will result in more capable and more competitive graduates to navigate the global economy,” said Christi Hunter, CEO of GLE and president of Global Competence Consulting.
