A well-known consulting professional with nearly 30 years of experience, Shelley is the former Director of Business and Management Consulting at Donna Cona, a leading Indigenous IT and management consulting firm. A citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario, she has been the project manager for dozens of business and IT development projects, and is a frequent contributor to the Financial Post Magazine. Shelley holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree and a Masters of Business Administration in Sustainable Management. She is bilingual, and a member of the Canadian Evaluation Society.

Created in 2001, Aarluk Consulting Inc. was a majority Inuit-owned company, providing consulting services in Nunavut. Stonecircle Consulting Inc., established in 2003 as a majority First Nations-owned company, provided consulting services to First Nations and Aboriginal organizations and governments across Canada. In 2014, Aarluk, Stonecircle and Consilium amalgamated into 8983186 Canada Inc., an Indigenous consulting company serving First Nations, Inuit, Métis and other Indigenous, not-for-profit and government clients.
