Scotiabank Sending Wood Buffalo Kids to Camp for Free This Summer

FORT MCMURRAY, AB–(Marketwired – June 10, 2016) – The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) is pleased to announce that Scotiabank will send kids to Scotiabank MI Summer Camps for free this summer.

“We have been truly impressed by the people of Fort McMurray and their efforts in rebuilding their community. We want to show our appreciation of our customers and the community by teaming up with RRC to give children the opportunity to have fun, learn new activities and enjoy being kids,” said Laurie Stang, Scotiabank Regional Senior Vice President, Prairie Region. “We are excited to be able to support the community of Fort McMurray by sending kids to Scotiabank MI Summer Camps.”

Scotiabank MI Summer Camps are week-long day camps where kids ages 3-12 explore new skills and build confidence, while making new friends. Activities include sports, interactive games, golf, swimming and more. Thanks to the generous partnership with Scotiabank, the 2016 summer camps will be provided to local families free of charge. There are 1,000 available camp spots for kids (200 for ages 3-5 and 800 for ages 6-12).

“We are so grateful to Scotiabank for this incredible partnership,” said Annette Antoniak, Chief Executive Officer of the RRC. “Families in our community have been through a very challenging period this spring, and this is an opportunity for their children to enjoy new experiences and make new friends while their parents and caregivers focus on returning their lives to normal as quickly as possible. As our community begins to rebuild, this is a tremendous gift to the residents of our region as we look towards the future, including that of our children.”

Scotiabank MI Summer Camps will be available for registration in two sessions:

  • Registration for weekly camps during the first session, which runs from June 20 to July 29, will begin on June 13 at 10:00 a.m. MST.
  • Registration for weekly camps during the second session, which runs from August 2 to September 2, will begin on July 18 at 10:00 a.m. MST.
