MONTREAL, QUEBEC–(Marketwired – June 14, 2017) – Transcontinental Inc.’s (TSX:TCL.A)(TSX:TCL.B) Media Sector, TC Media, announced today the sale of three of its weekly newspapers in the Gaspésie region, namely Le Pharillon, L’Écho de la Baie and Le Havre, as well as their related web properties, to Radio du Rocher Percé Inc., a company jointly owned and controlled by André Méthot and Claude Dauphin.
Eight TC Media employees are transferred to the acquirer. The Corporation would like to thank the employees for their work and wishes them the best for the future.
This transaction is part of the process for the sale of TC Media’s local and regional newspapers in Quebec and Ontario, which was made public in a press release issued by Transcontinental Inc. on April 18. As for the three other publications in the Gaspésie portfolio, namely L’Avantage Gaspésien, L’Avant-Poste and Vision Terre et Forêt, they remain part of the ongoing sale process of our publications and are generating interest in the market.
