VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA–(Marketwired – Nov. 9, 2016) – Westhaven Ventures Inc. (TSX VENTURE:WHN) reports that it has completed drilling on its 10,871 hectare Prospect Valley gold property, located within the prospective Spences Bridge Gold Belt (SBGB), approximately 25 km west of Merritt, British Columbia. The 2016 drill program consisted of 8 holes totaling 1,509 metres of diamond drilling.
The 2016 drill program had two objectives; 1) test the continuity of known shallowly west dipping gold mineralization in the Discovery South area to the west and at depth and 2) drill test a previously overlooked area (South Extension) situated approximately 400 metres south of known mineralization. The South Extension contains coincident gold and pathfinder element-in-soil, magnetic, and IP chargeability anomalies.
All samples have been submitted to the lab for assaying and will be reported when analyses for all holes are received.
The Spences Bridge Gold Belt (SBGB)
Westhaven owns a 100%-interest in over 29,000 hectares within the prospective SBGB, which is situated within a geological and structural setting similar to other significant epithermal gold-silver systems. It is close to existing transportation and infrastructure allowing for cost-effective exploration. The SBGB is a 110-kilometre northwest-trending belt of intermediate to felsic volcanic rocks dominated by the Cretaceous Spences Bridge group. Westhaven has been working on the SBGB since 2011 and believes these relatively underexplored volcanic rocks are highly prospective for epithermal style gold mineralization.
