Zagster Moves Into New Headquarters to Accommodate Robust Growth

CAMBRIDGE, MA–(Marketwired – Jun 7, 2016) – Zagster, the nation’s leading provider of public and public/private bike-share systems, today announced it has moved into new corporate headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The move follows the opening of a West Coast field office, in San Francisco, and caps a year of exponential growth across all of Zagster’s key business metrics, including: 400 percent growth in the number of bikes deployed nationwide; 300 percent growth in unique customers and programs; and 300 percent growth in staff. The move also comes shortly after the Boston Business Journal honored Zagster in its annual Best Places to Work list.

Located at 25 First Street in a building shared with other leading tech companies, the new office encompasses more than 11,000 square feet, enough to house Zagster’s 45 employees with ample room for growth. (Zagster anticipates its workforce will grow by one-third over the remainder of 2016.) The new space features expansive bike-themed murals painted by in-house staff; beer, cider, and cold-brewed coffee kegs; an open meeting space with amphitheater-style seating; and, because Zagster is a company whose mission is to promote cycling, on-site showers and a bike lab stocked with tools.

“After expanding piecemeal across multiple floors in our old office, it was time to step up and find a better and longer-term solution,” said Zagster CEO Tim Ericson. “Yet while the office space has changed, our culture hasn’t. The new space will enable us to operate more efficiently and continue growing apace, all while making Zagster an even better place to work.”

Unlike other programs in which riders must drop off bikes at designated stations for every stop, Zagster’s programs give users the freedom to ride as long as they want, wherever they want. And because Zagster manages all aspects of its programs — from bikes and technology, to maintenance and marketing — Zagster partners can create and deploy scalable bike-share systems that best suit their needs.

In the first five months of 2016, Zagster launched or expanded programs in eight cities, on three campuses, and at dozens of commercial and residential properties. All told, Zagster has more than 45,000 active riders utilizing thousands of bikes deployed to more than 130 bike shares nationwide. Zagster users have taken more than 217,000 rides — and counting.
