Zagster Says Bike AT Work During National Bike to Work Week

CAMBRIDGE, MA–(Marketwired – May 16, 2016) –  Not everyone can bike to work — but everyone can at least have the opportunity to bike at work, especially if you work at one of the more than 100 buildings, corporate and college campuses, office parks and cities in which Zagster offers service. So to recognize and encourage ridership during National Bike to Work Week, Zagster is celebrating Bike At Work Week.

Throughout the week of May 16-20, Zagster is asking its riders to say how they use Zagster bikes during the workday — to reach meetings, grab lunch, grocery shop or just take mental breaks and recharge. Users will caption pictures with their reasons for riding, and then either post the images directly on social media with the hashtag #bikeatwork, or email them to riders@zagster.com for Zagster to post. After reviewing all the submissions, the company will award shirts and special Bike At Work Week mugs to their favorite entrants.

Then on National Bike to Work Day, on May 20, Zagster will host local events with some of its top commercial partners, including General Motors, Quicken Loans and PNM Resources. At these events, Zagster partners will distribute swag, recruit new riders, and present users with whiteboards to record their reasons for biking while at work. Images of riders proudly displaying their whiteboard submissions will also be entered in the running for prizes along with other submissions gathered throughout the week.

Zagster is the nation’s leading provider of bike shares for businesses and commercial properties, with partners ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small local businesses, including Samsung, Workday, Intuitive Surgical, Irvine Company and JLL. Giving employees access to bikes on-site during the workday increases employee mobility and efficiency; improves workforce health and wellness; increases productivity; and reduces costs for other forms of transportation.

“We want to make the bike the most loved form of transportation, and our commercial partnerships are a great way to do that by getting more people riding during the workday,” said Zagster CEO and co-founder Tim Ericson. “Our programs promote happier, healthier and more engaged workplaces, which is a win for employers and their employees, too.”

Unlike other programs in which riders must drop off bikes at designated stations for every stop, Zagster’s programs give users the freedom to ride as long as they want, wherever they want. And because Zagster manages all aspects of its programs — from bikes and technology, to maintenance and marketing — Zagster partners can create and deploy scalable bike-share systems that best suit their workforce.

Riding Zagster’s bike shares is easy. Bikes can be found via the free Zagster Mobile App — available for iPhone and Android — or online at zagster.com. Each bike has a unique number which riders enter into the app to obtain a single-use code to open the lockbox on the back of the bike. (Alternatively, riders can obtain unlock codes via text message.) A key, stored inside and tethered to the lockbox, allows the bike to be locked and unlocked throughout a ride. After the rider returns the bike to a designated Zagster bike station, the rental ends and the bike is available for the next person to enjoy.

Zagster’s latest programs feature the Zagster 8, an award-winning bike known for its practical design, comfortable ride, and easy handling. The bike includes a spacious basket that’s perfect for carrying groceries, takeout or personal belongings. And because rider safety is a priority, every bike includes automatic lights, a bell and full reflectors.
